WOL DEVOTION
TUE 4, August
Romans 1:28 contains one of the most terrifying concepts in the Bible. It is based on the word ‘paradidoomi’ translated with the words (God) gave them up. It is a word that describes the abandonment of something. For example, it is used for when Jesus “giving up” His spirit in John 19:30. Other uses is of John the Baptist being “thrown” into prison. Positively, it is used for believers who risked their lives for the Name of the Lord (Acts 15:24-25). The contrast between Romans 1:28 and Acts 15, 24-25, is striking. Some people do not acknowledge God, and therefore, God gives them up to wrath, while others recognize the holiness and purpose of God and their life reflects through their service towards God. Can each of us say this of ourselves? Are we willing to “hand ourselves over” to whatever might come in the cause of Christ?
Gems in the book of Romans
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. Romans 1:28
KNOWING THE BIBLE
A short message to ponder on… Can we think of a day or an instance when our kids were bold in saying something? Maybe about an experience they had or after something they watched on TV…they speak to us with boldness, stating that what they know is true and right. We shall unite as a church, with one mind and one spirit and pray that spiritual boldness will be an asset in our children. Soon enough, to be bold and preach what we believe in will be considered as hate speech or instigating fear or oppression unto unbelievers! Boldness is already rare in Christianity today…
Since the ministry work doubled…because we have two services, we believe it is an opportunity for you to apply what we have learned. In the last months, we learned about the spiritual gifts that we have and how we can use them in the church. In this way, we will use a negative experience and turn it into a positive one as we will be glorifying God and build up each other.
